Of note are the characteristics manifested by God’s true saints: true righteousness and holiness which, if maintained unto the end (death or resurrection) will result in the granting of eternal life. This is the opposite of the religiosity of the false church which Jesus characterizes in the following passages: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, teaching as (My) doctrines the COM- MANDMENTS OF MEN (church doctrine) (Matt. 15:7-9). “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and DO NOT THE THINGS I SAY?” (Lk. 6:46). “Many (wide gate-broad way people) will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name and done many wonderful works in Your name?’ Then I will declare unto them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who work INIQUITY (Lawlessness/sin) (Mat. 7:22,23).'” Who but the Counterfeit Church (Catholicism/Protestantism) expresses faith in Him, calls Him “Lord,” worships Him, honors Him with their words, preaches, teaches, does wonderful works in His name, attends church, memorizes Scripture, has radio and t.v. ministries, witnesses, etc. while rejecting God’s Word, thereby denying Him (Jn. 12:48)? Note in this passage that Jesus equates rejecting His Words with rejecting Himself.
In Matthew 7:1-5 Jesus characterizes true saints as those who are careful to keep even the slightest sin (speck) out of their lives (eye) in order to be able to judge other people in the church as to their obedience to God, which He commands the righteous to do. Those who insist that they must sin due to Adam’s fall are to be put out of the church. All leaven (sin) must be purged (1 Cor. 5:1-7). The Counterfeit Church claims that she has no choice but to sin; the Lord commands that sinners be put out of the church. If the church is right, then the loaf has been leavened but all is well because leaven (sin) is a natural and expected part of Christian life. But if God is right ….
God commands the forgiven to “… go and sin no more” (Jn. 8:11). If He expected the woman who did not express any recog- nition of Him as God’s Son to quit sin utterly, would He not expect the same from those who claim oneness with Him? Notice that He did not tell the woman to cut back on her sinning, or to remember to repent following each of her future sins. His command was to quit sin utterly. In John 5:14 we find Jesus healing a man who did not know who He was. Nevertheless He told him to SIN NO MORE lest something worse came on him. Nowhere in His Word does God demand that we sin less, rather He commands that, once forgiven (is justified), we stop sinning (breaking His Law-1 Jn. 3:4) in order to maintain our justification (Rom. 2:13). If He has not enabled us to stop sinning, then He is being disingenuous by demanding that we do what we are incapable of doing.
In concluding this segment I will highlight a belief that has proven to be the downfall of many churchites. In Revelation 3:14-22 We find the Lord warning today’s Counterfeit Church by speaking to her spiritual ancestor–the church at Laodicea that represented the church which would be in existence when He returned to earth (Catholicism/Protestantism). In this passage Jesus describes the modern day church system as saying to herself that she is rich, successful, having need of nothing. But in reality she is wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. She is so evil that He will not enter her, rather He stands outside the door and knocks. He will enter into the presence of HIM (the individual) who hears His voice (Word) and obeys it, thereby overcoming Satan. He tells us that only those who do so will sit with Him on His throne. The modern Laodicean church is thriving–numbers are up, baptisms are up, the bus ministry is growing, the radio and t.v. ministries are reaching millions, the missionary effort is producing fruit. She believes she has need of nothing. But because she is steeped in heathenism and will not hear God’s Words of rebuke and correction (2 Tim. 3:16), she will be D.O.A. on judgment day. If you are a part of the Counterfeit Church system you must come out, be converted and obey God’s Word until death or His return in order to qualify for eternal life. God says that few will do so. Many are called, but few will be chosen for having answered His call.
