For hundreds of years Satan has successfully convinced Law-rejecters within the Institutional Church that Hebrews 8:6-8 “proves” that the Law was “nailed to the cross” and is therefore not applicable to the New Covenant Church. A cursory reading of the passage would cause the casual reader to believe that this is indeed the case. For one thing, the wording of the verses preceding and following the statement makes the meaning of verses 6-8 difficult to understand. But let us not forget that the letter to the Hebrew Christians was written by the Apostle Paul whose words, as the Apostle Peter noted, “are hard to understand,” which enables those in the church who are “unlearned and unstable to distort … to their own destruction” (2 Pet. 3:16). Peter also noted that those people also distort (“wrest”) other Scriptures that do not fit into their theology. The word “wrest” is the root from which we get the word “wrestle,” meaning to force an object to change forms or positions, or in the case of words, to change meanings. Peter is telling the saints in God’s true church that there were those in the church who are doing violence to God’s Truth. That is what has happened to Hebrews 8:6-8 as well as other Scriptures relative to the Law. See God’s Royal Law.
Verses six through eight: Verse 6 notes that Jesus is a better mediator than those He succeeded, and that the second covenant is superior to the first. This statement causes no problems within the New Covenant Church. However, the next two statements do cause problems.
In verse 7 we are told that the first (“Old”) covenant had a “fault,” and for that reason had to be replaced by a second (“New”) covenant. A problem begins to develop in the second sentence where Paul tells the Hebrews (Israelites) that the New Covenant was made with THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL (the 10 northern tribes called “Israel”) AND THE HOUSE OF JUDAH (the 2 southern tribes called “Jews”). But did not the Lord make the New Covenant with the modern day church known collectively as “Christianity?” He did, and therein lies a problem in the eyes of professing Christendom whose parishioners refuse to accept God’s true church with whom He established the New Covenant–HOUSE OF ISRAEL (vs 10). The church does not realize that “Christianity” (Catholicism/Protestantism) is comprised of two radically different church systems: God’s Law-keeping church and Satan’s Law-rejecting church.
Recall that God commissioned the apostles to engage in a “ministry of reconciliation” in which all of the tribes of Israel would be reconciled–rejoined. Following their reconciliation, the singular body would then be reconciled to Him (Eze. 45:17). Ezekiel 37’s “valley of dry bones” graphically describes this reconciliation process in which the “stick” labeled “Judah” and the “stick” labeled “Israel” would be reunited to form “one stick” which would then become one with the Almighty.
The following passages concerning the Old and New Covenants will show that both covenants involved one group of people–Israelites. The Bible was written to, for and about Israel. The New Covenant Church is an Israelite institution which includes those Gentiles who choose to become part of the Commonwealth of Israel by obeying the Law of the Israelite’s God–the God of the Bible–Whose Messiah was born of the Israelite tribe of Judah. The church’s rules of engagement are those the Biblical God gave to His Chosen People–Israel. The gates of New Jerusalem will have the names of the 12 apostles written on them. The foundation of the Eternal City will have the names of the 12 Tribes of Israel written on them. The God of the Israelites and His Israelite Son with be the Light of the city (Rev. 21:12-14,23).
