I have proven numerous times that self-professed Christians do not believe the Words found within the Holy Bible and therefore do not use it as the basis for their various versions of faith. Their faith is what they “know” about is right. What they “know” about living “the Christian life” is based on their “feelings,” which are based on church doctrine, which is based on various Babylonian mystery religions which the Catholic Church embraced during the fourth century A.D. when heathen people were forced to join her at the point of a Roman sword. After several generations those heathen beliefs and customs became “scriptural” and accepted as “the will of God.” When the so-called Protestants left her they took most of those beliefs and customs with them. See the Introduction to this website.
Today, expressions such as “I know in my heart that I’m saved,” and “I took Jesus as my personal Savior”–neither of which is Scriptural–reveal that the speakers do not believe God’s Word which states often and emphatically that one can be converted (not saved) ONLY by believing and obeying His Word. This Christ-spoken Truth (Jn. 12:48) the church refuses to believe. As a result, the Counterfeit Church’s supposed salvation is as bogus as the heathen religions upon which it is based. Within professing Christendom, “feelings” rule the day, set the standard and “prove” that one is right with God. Church people “know” that they are right because the “feel” right when they obey the tenants of their particular religious group. Their supposed “salvation” is based solely on how they “feel” about their relationship with God. However, FEELINGS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SALVATION WHICH IS BASED SOLELY ON FAITH IN AND OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORD.
Jesus Christ proclaimed that every person who ever lived will be judged by his/her obedience to His Words (Jn. 12:48), not by their feelings about their religious activities and beliefs. Satan is the master manipulator relative to religious feelings. A perfect example of this fact is found in the story of David and Bathsheba. David “felt” that God had placed Bathsheba in his life. He “felt” that killing her husband was the right thing to do. How do we know this? Recall that when the Prophet Nathan told him the story about a man who possessed only one thing–a little yew lamb. An official, Nathan told him, took the lamb from the poor man, leaving him nothing. David, in a rage, declared that the man should be killed. However, he did not have the same attitude toward himself for taking Bathsheba from her husband which, he quickly learned, was the point of Nathan’s story. Satan had caused David to “know” several things. He “knew” that God had arranged for Bathsheba to be bathing naked so that he could see her. He “knew” that God was smiling on him and her for what they had done. DAVID “KNEW” THAT GOD HAD ARRANGED THE WHOLE SORDID MESS. Such is the power of Satan. Murder, mass murder, adultery, divorce, theft, lying, cheating–all have been perpetrated in the name of the Lord. When confronted, many church people who have committed such sins claim to have “known” they were in God’s will because of how they “felt” about committing the acts. A tragic irony is found in the fact that, throughout history, more people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason.
Bible believers know that Satan can inject into church people a counterfeit “knowing” that makes them “feel” they are right even when confronted with God’s Words that condemn their actions and beliefs. Having their error pointed out to them has no effect on what they “know” in their hearts is right. Such well-meaning but Satan-deceived people are the enemies of God on two fronts. One, they are disobeying Him, and two, they are leading others astray by setting an anti-god example while claiming to be led by Him. Number one is called “darkness (1 Pet. 2:9) while number two is called “great darkness” (Mat. 6:23).
Having experienced both of those darknesses I can attest to the fact of Satan’s incredible power to persuade God-seekers to turn from His self-debasing path that leads to righteousness and onto the devil’s self-exalting path that leads to destruction. Satan’s power is not lessened because one is religious. Tragically, the deceived within the church and the deceived without the church are equally cursed by the Biblical God. Both will receive the same recompense.
One of the primary “truths” found within professing Christendom is the “knowing” that one need not be righteous–obedient to God–in order to get to heaven. One need only be religious–believe in Him, attend church, pray, tithe, etc. in order to meet the Lord’s entrance requirements. The idea is to “do my best” and leave the rest up to Jesus Who knows that “I have no choice but to sin.” Knowing that sin is inevitable, He supposedly died so that the “sinner saved by grace” can sin and get away with it. According to church “truth,” when Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to “Go and SIN NO MORE,” what He meant was “Go and TRY TO CUT BACK ON YOUR SINNING.” I have mentioned before the famous t.v. preacher who told his national congregation not to try to be righteous. Why? because, he told them, “… you will just make yourself sick.” They were, he assured them “… nothing more than a society of sinners.” All of whom, he repeatedly assures them to this day, are simply “sinners saved by grace.” According to him and his fellow false prophets, if one belongs to “the church,” the fix is in. And Satan smiles. L.J.
